Recipe for Your Unhappiness

Hi everyone. I thought I would do something different today.

I really don`t like cooking anymore. My daughter, Nicole does it now. I am so grateful for that. But I do like to eat and of course I have some favorite recipes.

I know, this is not a blog about cooking but I thought it might be fun to share this Recipe for Unhappiness with you today.

Okay, let`s get started.

Recipe for Your Unhappiness

Ingredients

  • A pen and paper
  • One set of lips
  • 7 Ounces of Stale air
  • One dark and gloomy living space
  • 7 Cups of sleep deprivation
  • Few pinches of lethargy
  • 1 untrained mind
  • 5 Cups of Negative attitude
  • A dash of selfishness

Directions

  1. Everyday, take your pen and paper to write a list of everything that has ever gone wrong in your life. Remember to include those times someone has let you down, hurt you or betrayed you.
  2. Never feel gratitude or count your blessings. It is easier to take your home, family and friends for granted.
  3. Avoid getting a good night`s rest. Use any means available to keep yourself awake - lots of coffee helps. Sleep deprivation is a myth.
  4. Take those lips and maintain a frown. After a while you face will stay like that. At least that`s what my Mom use to say.
  5. Never go outside and take a breath of fresh air.
  6. Stay clear of the sun by remaining indoors with the curtains drawn. SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is not real.
  7. Do not exercise. Be lethargic.  Scientists have not proven a link between exercise and a healthy state of mind.
  8. Allow your mind to wander into terrible memories and thoughts of futuristic scenarios of doom and gloom. Never stop and live in the moment.
  9. Indulge in self destructive behavior, negative thoughts and pessimism. Watch or read and pour all your energy into an endless stream of news about tragedies, inhumanity, destruction and disasters.
  10. Be sure to never share, be polite, volunteer or think of the other person.

Once these are combined, let it set and brew.

Enjoy your miserable life and serve to everyone you know.

Happiness is more about your attitude than it is about the circumstances in your life.

Here is a recipe card for you to print out. Enjoy.

Thank you for posting this, I believe a lot of people need to see this... So many people do these things, and then complain saying they just can't understand why they are so miserable. Maybe they should take a look in the mirror

I agree. So many people don't even realize they are making themselves miserable. That was me twenty years ago. I am happy now that I found an attitude of gratitude.
Sad thing is, you don't always need to write down all your past failures and such to keep reliving them. Some people have them playing on repeat in their mind.

Your right Jon. It's like a record in your mind (CD for the younger readers) repeating all that negativity over and over again. This is where they need to turn the record off and replace it with positive thoughts and keep a gratitude journal. In my opinion. Darlene
Brilliant. It never ceases to amaze me how much time we can spend making ourselves miserable. It takes as much work, maybe less, to make happiness.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit and commenting.

I think we get stuck in a rut and don't even realize what we are doing. That's why sharing your feelings with someone else is important - they may see it and pull you out of the rut so you can begin changing.
This is on point. I deeply believe in the idea that "The problem is not the problem, your attitude about the problem is the problem." Everyone goes through trials and tribulations, some worse than others, but its how you react and bounce back from the tough times that dictate how you feel and how your life goes. Positivity goes a very long way, but feeling sorry for yourself and thinking the world is against you is the quickest way to a miserable life like you said.
The sad part is some people don't know how to do any different because this is how it has always been for them. Maybe it is what you are taught as a child. If a parent has terrible coping mechanisms then how will they teach their children anything different?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
Great post because surely hardly anyone literally lives their lives by making an actual recipe for misery, and yet we go about our daily existence often repeating the same things and re-using the same ingredients which tend to cause misery.
Well when you put it like that! I can find a million reasons not to do these 7 things, ever. You know my grandfather was a pastor who would say "God keeps no record of sins", it goes along with number one on your list, thanks for the reminder.
Darlene,

This is wonderful. I love your blog, with it's uplifting information that so many poor souls need. I truly believe negativity is a cultural virus in our society. Thanks again ~Aleshia

I am sat here smiling after reading your recipe for unhappiness. I am sure there are plenty of people who know the recipe of by heart, luckily I have a bad memory and will probably get a few of the steps jumbled resulting in a small amount of happiness...Oh, NO!
I know some people who eat this everyday! I try to just snack on it :p (Depression sucks)

Isn't it sad that there are people who choose to use this recipe for their lives?
I choose happiness :)
XOXO
I know a lot of people that actually make that recipe and then share it often. It is so true, you can choose how you want to live and what recipe you want to follow. Thank you for linking up to Small Victories Sunday. I have pinned this to our board.
Hi Darlene! What a clever post. Great use of reverse psychology too. Loved it! But don't expect me to pin this recipe. ;)
